Flow MTB 2018 Rider Profile: Anna-Louise Fletcher

I’m a little bit wacky and I love riding my bike, skiing, snowboarding… anything outdoors really! My pooch and I have been all over Europe in the van adventuring together!

I’ve had a mountain bike for a couple of years but had never really thought about racing until last year when I met, my now best riding buddy, Emma on a GirlBikeVan ride in the lake district, we hit it off like a house on fire. Emma had entered the PMBA (Pennine Mountain Bike Association) Enduro series and persuaded me to enter some too, the first being at Kirroughtree in Scotland where we both ended up on the podium Emma 3rd and myself 4th. We then raced at the Welsh Enduro at Llandegla then back for another PMBA at GNAR where I came 5th.

Last race of 2017 was at Dyfi forest and the Red Bull Foxhunt. I had never been to a Foxhunt before and was very excited. The track was wet, muddy and very typically welsh! I just about managed to hold on to my bike and came 12th.

Major race results

2017

  • Northern DH Hamsterley TT:  4th
  • PMBA Enduro series Kirroughtree:  4th
  • Welsh Enduro series Llandegla: 14th
  • PMBA Enduro series Gnar bike park:  5th
  • Hope Tech women’s Enduro:  14th
  • Red Bull Foxhunt:  12th

Plans for 2018

In 2018 I have entries for the ‘Ard Rock Enduro and the first round of the Onza Mini Downhill. I’m looking to enter some more enduro races including the PMBA Enduro, Welsh Enduro, UKGE and possibly try my luck at a BDS (British Downhill Series).

I’m really keen on getting more women involved in mountain biking and start my training with British Cycling to become a Mountain Bike Leader in February. This will enable me to take women on rides around the Lake District.
